| Something that helped me in my battle against social phobia was keeping a diary/journal. When it seemed like I was losing the battle, if I had an especially bad week for example, I would look back at my diary and see how much I had progressed since the beginning. For a while I was too scared to keep one in case someone found it and discovered how 'messed up' I was but I got a lock box - a small metal box with a key - to keep it in and hid the keys (so well that I had to eventually smash the box open with a hammer). Now that I'm not fearful of social situations I look back at the first days of my diary in wonder at the entries. I still keep the diary but it no longer concerns my mental state. |
