my story
I guess it all started in high school, when I had to do presentations. At first I would be nervous and not blush, but then all of the sudden I would always blush when giving presentations, and people would start joking me that my face looked like an apple. It was only a short while longer that it started getting even worse, where it started affecting my social life. I stopped talking to many people and basically became an introvert. I could remember just being so frustrated each time it happened so I made sure to stay away from any situation that would cause it. I always ducked away from the problem thinking that it would go away in a few years, until I finally learned to face the problem head on as I am now in college now. I had to do a two minute oral presentation and I was very confident in my abilities, I had practiced in the mirror the night before and made sure I memorized it thoroughly. Then when the day came, the first second I started speaking, what do ya know, my head turned into an apple. People were actually asking me if I was alright like I had some serious health problem or something. It just ticked me off so much.I just wanted to post this so that others who do the same thing know that they are not the only ones. As far as solutions go, i'm trying to work on growing my self esteem and self confidence. I'm also considering joining a local toastmasters to combat the problem as well. I guess i'm just one of those believers that if you get enough experience doing something, you should be able to overcome fears or anxieties or whatever. I realize now that I should have faced the problem head on years ago when it first happened, but I just let it get worse and it killed my social relationships not only with people of the opposite sex, but my relatives as well. It almost makes me laugh to think that a problem such as blushing could have caused so much pain and agony, but it did, and that is what people need to realize in my opinion. I made that mistake, and I hope others who read this confront their problems and not let them linger on.
